Scrabble Fair

Mixing Scrabble with fun mechanics inspired by 'Mouse Trap,' crafting a dynamic and creative board game experience.

Scrabble Fair was born from our desire to blend the classic Scrabble with the playful mechanics of 'Mouse Trap' in a university project aimed at reinventing traditional games.


We wanted to create something that wasn't just a flat board game but a multi-dimensional experience that would make people say, "I want to play that." Our project was about finding the sweet spot between mechanical intricacy and enjoyable gameplay. 


Inspired by the intricate contraptions of 'Mouse Trap,' we set out to infuse Scrabble with the same whimsical charm. Our goal was to make the game not only intellectually stimulating but also visually and physically engaging, drawing players into a world of words and wonder. 


Using tools like SolidWorks for 3D modeling and laser printing for fabrication, we brought our ideas to life, creating mechanical pieces that seamlessly integrated into the game board. It was all about making sure the mechanics added to the gameplay without overwhelming it. 


We didn't want Scrabble to feel like a relic of the past. By introducing action cards and interactive elements, we injected a sense of excitement and unpredictability, turning it into a lively social experience for players of all ages. 


As we worked on the project, our initial vision evolved. We shifted from a 'Theme Park' theme to a 'Scramble Fair,' infusing the game with a playful carnival atmosphere. It was all about creating an immersive experience that would spark joy and curiosity in players. 


In the end, Scrabble Fair wasn't just a game; it was a testament to creativity, collaboration, and innovation. It was about pushing the boundaries of what a board game could be, inviting players on a delightful journey filled with words and whimsy."
